This is a Gray Looper Moth on the Yarrow in my garden last summer.
Arachne Checkerspots are found in the western U.S. in desert grasslands and open mountain meadows. Their host plants and nectar are penstemon and beardstongue. This one is in a mountain meadow area in northern Arizona.
Sooty Azure’s are small with 1.25 inch wingspan. They are commonly found in moist and deciduous habitats. The caterpillars feed within folded leaves, as a shelter against predators. The adult female is blue, while the male is grayer. This photo is from my archives.
