Red Columbines are native to the Pacific Coast from Alaska to Baja, California.They are found in open mountain meadows, rocky areas, and along streams. They are from the Buttercup family, I saw this one while in Oregon.
Columbines come in many colors and bi-colors, which are native to North America, Europe, and Asia. They are found in high elevation areas in the northern hemisphere, in woodland and meadow areas. Here are some Golden Columbines, found in northern Arizona, about 7000 feet in elevation.
