The Apache Plume is a native shrub to the southwest United States and in northern Mexico. They are found in arid woodland and desert areas. This photo shows the fruit heads of the flower after the white petals falls away.
Mule Deer are native to western North America. Their name derives from the fact that they have large ears, like a mule, the ears move continuously and independently. Here is a Mule Deer I saw recently on a trail in the Ponderosa Pine forest area, close to where I live.
Red Squirrels are rust-red to grayish-red above and whitish to gray below. Their tails are dark rust-red. They are found near any type of forest with pines in much of Canada and the U.S. in northern mid and eastern states, as well as the Allegheny Mountains and Rocky Mountains.
