World Wetlands Day is February 2nd. It is a day to celebrate and raise awareness for the importance of wetlands. A wetland is water area that works in two ways, to prevent flooding by storing water when levels are high or slowly release water when levels are low. This is important as it keeps the water levels normal, while filtering and purifying the surface water. Wetlands provide ecosystems for fish, birds, bugs, and other wildlife. Here is a Green-Winged Teal at Kachina Wetlands in northern Arizona.
