NORTHERN CARDINAL

The Northern Cardinal males are bright red with a black mask and red crest, while the females and juveniles are brown with some red on crest and wings. They are found throughout much of the eastern and some southwest areas of the U.S. and into Mexico, in desert, woods, and water areas. Here is one I saw while at Sedona Wetlands Preserve in northern Arizona.
