RUBY CROWNED KINGLET

Ruby Crowned Kinglets are very small birds, with a tiny beaks. They have a distinct broken white eye ring and a ruby colored crown patch. The patch is erect when they are excited, otherwise concealed, and females do not have this patch. These kinglets are common in wooded and brushy habitats. They feed on miniscule insects, catching them while hovering from the tips of branches. I watched this one while I was at Sedona Wetlands recently.
