February 2nd is World Wetlands Day. This is a day to raise awareness about the vital role of wetlands to the planet. A wetland is water area that works in two ways, they prevent flooding by storing water when levels are high or slowly release water when levels are low. This is important as it keeps the water levels normal, while filtering and purifying the surface water. These areas are critical for fish, birds, and other wildlife survival. Here are two Green-winged Teals and a Canada Goose at Kachina Wetlands.
