NORTHERN PINTAIL

Northern Pintails have distinct blue-gray bills, a brown head, and white necks. The male has very long tail feathers and the female body is mottled brown. Northern Pintails eat mostly aquatic plants, the females will also eat insects before nesting. Here is one in northern Arizona. They seem to be in my area during late fall and winter the past few years.
