The American White Pelican is a very large bird found on coasts and lake areas. They roost on sandbars and forage in shallow sheltered lakes, marshes, and lagoons. I saw this migrating American White Pelican at Kachina Wetlands Preserve in northern Arizona.

Now that is something I would have loved to have seen, what a surprise that must have been, great capture Tracy.

Thanks! The Pelican was at pond #3… don’t know if still there, check though next time you go. It was very exciting to me!

When I first saw an American White Pelican in flight, I thought it was a glider — they have that big a wingspan!
Great shot!
