Here are two Rufous Hummingbird’s, a female and male that came to my yard recently. They have created a lot of action in the backyard as they are very aggressive and will go after other hummingbirds at flowers and feeders to get the nectar. They will also eat small flying insects.

One of the few times we’ve had a rufous in the yard, it challenged my dog to a staring contest, beak-to-muzzle. My dog was so confused! But the rufous never backed down, and my dog eventually slunk off to try and sort out what just happened. Very confident little birds.
