Palamedes Swallowtail butterflies have a distinguishing mark of a yellow postmedian band and yellow submarginal band on the underside of the black wing. Palamedes Swallowtails are found in swamplands and wet forest habitats in the southern Atlantic and Gulf Coast states of the U.S. The caterpillar is green and host plants are swampbay, redbay, and white sassafras.
