Here is a female Lesser Goldfinch in my yard. The Lesser Goldfinches are only about four and a half inches tall with yellow and black feathers. The males are dark on their head and back, the color can vary from black to dark green, while the females are generally more yellow overall. The females are less striking than the males, but still very pretty.
