Green Bottle Flies are found in many parts of the world, mostly in the western hemisphere. They have distinct shiny green, blue, and black bodies. They make loud buzzing sounds. They do not bite or sting humans or animals and they are a common visitor to carrion, feces, and garbage. The adult Green Bottle Fly are known to lay eggs in cadaver tissue within hours of a death. The maggots of this fly consume dead flesh while leaving live tissue intact. Here is a Bottle Green Fly in northern Arizona.
