Into birds? Global Big Day is a day when people will collectively count birds across the planet. More than 160 countries are expected to participate. Last year Global Big Day tallied 6,613 bird species around the world. Bird counts are an important way to monitor environmental trends in local areas, as well as identify potential problems, such as habitat loss.
