Asters are star shaped wild flowers that are lilac with dark green leaves. They bloom from July to October. There are over 180 different species of asters, all but one are within Eurasia. They come  in the colors of whites,  purples, blues, and pinks. The North America species is called aster amelius, this is the species in the photos here.
