ACORN WOODPECKER

An Acorn Woodpecker can be found among Oak and Pine-Oak forests in the southwestern U.S, western Oregon and California, Mexico and Central America. Their name derives from the fact that they harvest acorns directly from Oak trees, store them in holes in trees, and eat them. These woodpeckers will also eat insects. Acorn Woodpeckers live in groups and they all spend large amounts of time storing acorns.
