Sparrows are a large group of generally small and brown streaked birds. They have short conical beaks. Their diet changes, in summer they will eat insects along with seeds, while in winter, just seeds. The white-crowned sparrow is a fairly common bird throughout North America. A long-tailed sparrow with a distinct white crown with black stripes. The immature have brown crown stripes. Here is an immature and an adult white-crowned sparrow, I took these photos in northern Arizona.
