

There have been many times in my hiking adventures where I was not watching where I was going and bad things happened. Once, on a woody trail, I tripped over a tree root that went across the path. I fell to my knees and of course that hurt. The next day I had to go to work and I looked like a little child with scraped and bruised knees in my sundress. Another situation, while not watching my feet, was on a dry dirt trail, I slipped and fell going down an incline and landed on my behind. That has actually happened more than once, it is definitely embarrassing. The topper to not paying attention to the road though, was walking in dog poop, it stuck to the tread of my hiking boot. What is bad is that minimally, it stunk, but the worst was tracking it into the car. I learned a very valuable lesson from that.
